On Friday, September 6, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons registered their first win of the ongoing CPL season as they beat Trinbago Knight Riders by six runs. The Chris Green-led side were having a disastrous season, having lost four games in a trot. 

In the recently concluded match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the Falcons, batting first, put 176/6 on the board. Fakhar Zaman and Justin Greaves provided the desired start, but once the powerplay got over, things slowed down. Imad Wasim's 46-run knock helped the Falcons put their highest total of the season. 

In reply, The Knight Riders lost an early wicket, but Andries Gous and Shaqkere Parris's fifty-runs-plus stand put TKR in a fighting position. Meanwhile, Fabian Allen spread his magic and took three quick wickets.

When TKR were looking out of the game, Kieron Pollard and Kaecy Carty stitched a fifty-run stand that brought them back into the hunt. At one point it looked like the match had again slipped out of Falcons' hands.

The TKR skipper scored 30 (15). He hogged the internet on the 17th over when he whacked Mohammad Amir for a one-handed six. It looked like Amir would again get the beating, but in a change of events, the Pakistani seamer took his revenge and rattled Pollard's stumps on the very next delivery. 

Amir's Failed Show in CPL 2024

Before this match, Amir has had a dismal show in CPL 2024 as he got whacked for three sixes in ABF's last match. Even against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Dwaine Pretorius smashed him for a six to register a historic win.
