In an exciting MLC 2024 encounter between Los Angeles Knight Riders and Washington Freedom, Glenn Maxwell produced a moment of magic to dismiss the seasoned Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for a 2-ball duck as Freedom jolted LA in powerplay.

With an aim to extend their lead at the top of the MLB 2024 season points table, in-form Washington Freedom took on a struggling Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Church Street Park Stadium over the weekend.

Washington invited LAKR to bat first, and the latter fell into the trap perfectly. Saurabh Netravalkar struck twice in an over to remove Sunil Narine and Unmukt Chand early in the powerplay.

With the stage set, Glenn Maxwell showcased his brilliance with the ball to jolt the Knight Riders further. Steve Smith summoned Maxwell into the attack to bowl the third over the powerplay, and he was right about the money.

He deceived the new batter, Shakib Al Hasan, with a 91.9 kph arm ball at a good length. Shakib leaned forward to defend but ended up missing the line completely. He exposed a huge gap between bat and pad, which was enough for Maxwell’s peach delivery to sneak in and disturb the wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan couldn’t comprehend the sudden turn of events and seemed in absolute shock, but Maxwell roared in delight as his trap worked successfully.

With Shakib gone for a 2-ball duck, Los Angeles Knight Riders were reduced to 13/3. They eventually managed to put a mere 129 runs on board. 

Steve Smith and Travis Head single-handedly dominated the chase and wrapped the game inside 16 overs to secure their third victory in the tournament.
