Jaffna Kings secured a thumping six-wicket victory in Match 13 of the ongoing Lanka Premier League with an impressive performance against Colombo Strikers on Tuesday. However, the match's highlight wasn't just the win but a stunning catch that will be replayed for seasons to come.

Theekshana's stunning return catch got the crowd buzzing

It all happened on the fourth ball of the 15th over when Colombo Strikers wicketkeeper Lahiru Udara ambitiously drove a delivery from the Kings spinner, Maheesh Theekshana. However, an early shot saw the ball veer towards the bowler instead.

Displaying sheer agility and split-second reflexes, Theekshana dove to his right, grasping the ball and sealing one of the most remarkable catches this season to send Udara back to the pavilion for 29 off 25 balls.

Although the Strikers rallied post-Udara’s wicket, adding a respectable 47 runs in the subsequent 32 balls, their total of 146/8 in 30 overs left much to be desired.

Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for the Strikers with a quick 36 off 25, but a standout innings remained elusive. The Kings' bowlers, Dunith Wellalage and Dilshan Madhushanka, kept the pressure on, claiming two wickets each.

Jaffna Kings responded in style as they made light work of the target set by the Strikers. Openers Nishan Madushka and Rahmanullah Gurbaz quickly established dominance, knocking 58 in just 5.2 overs.

Though Gurbaz was dismissed, Madushka continued the aggressive play. By the time Madushka was bowled out, the Kings only required 22 from 43. The finishing blow was delivered by Towhid Hridoy, whose rapid 14 off nine balls, including three boundaries, clinched the Kings' third victory of the competition in just 14.3 overs.
