Overcoming an abysmal start while chasing a target of 160, the Indian team was led to a thumping win in the third T20I against West Indies by the stunning performances of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.

Suryakumar comes up with cheeky reply to Varma's query

Their aggressive 87-run partnership in just 50 balls was the highlight of the evening. Surya, with his brilliant 83 off 44 balls and Varma, with a determined 49 not out, put in an exquisite display of batting and helped India stay alive in the series.

Their camaraderie off the field was equally evident as they shared a light-hearted chat after the match, which was subsequently shared on BCCI's Twitter account.

Yadav initiated the conversation, turning to his partner and saying, “We have with us Tilak Varma. He batted differently in the first two games. Today, he showed a different facet of his batting. Please tell our viewers about your knock.”

Varma explained that he adjusted his game due to the slow pitch. He aimed for calculated risks and focused on building a substantial inning. He mentioned capitalizing on loose deliveries, but he didn't see it as a significantly different approach.

“The wicket was slow. I decided to take calculated risks and aimed to play a long innings. I was offered some loose balls and I capitalized on them, nothing too different really,” replied the southpaw.

The 20-year-old surprised everyone by revealing that Surya had a note on his wristband to start his innings steadily. However, he began aggressively, which surprised the left-hander.

"I want to share with the viewers that Surya bhai had written on his wristband a note to begin his innings steadily. However, I was taken aback when he began belting big shots from the get-go," revealed Varma.

Surya jokingly commented that sometimes it's good to bluff oneself. He admitted that he tricked himself into believing he should start aggressively and continued playing his natural game after a couple of successful shots.

“It’s good to bluff yourself sometimes. I fooled myself today and began my onslaught from the very first ball. When I managed to hit the first two balls, I decided to stick to my natural game. There was no point in taking undue risks or trying something out of the ordinary," replied Surya.

With the series on the line, and West Indies leading 2-1, the fourth T20I takes place from Lauderhill, Florida on August 12.
