England's big-hitter Liam Livingstone continued his dominant show against the New Zealand side in the 2nd ODI as he struck an outstanding fifty after early blows derailed the home team. The right-hander, meanwhile, counter-attacked against the Kiwi bowlers to pull his side back as wickets kept falling in the initial stage.

Scoring two consecutive half-centuries, Livingstone bettered his longest-ever innings in cricket as he took 47 balls for his half-century, and also, that didn't include a six for the first time in his career.

He came to the crease at a stage when England were five down for 55 by the start of the 13th over as the BlackCaps' pacers were on fire as the returnee Trent Boult was wreaking havoc with the new ball. However, once Livingstone arrived, there was no looking back for the right-hander, who formed a decent partnership with experienced Moeen Ali to get the Three Lions going.

But when Ali departed for 33, Livingstone didn't hold himself back as he continued to dominate the opposition bowlers. Later, Sam Curran joined the party with an explosive 42-run knock, giving much-needed support from the other end.

Already a shortened match due to rain, England scored 226 for the loss of seven wickets by the end of their 34 overs, with Livingstone scoring 95 not out where he struck nine fours and a six as he played 78 balls, the highest in his career in any format.
