[Watch] Jos Buttler Smacks Trent Boult For 3 Boundaries in an Over

While the cricket world seems to be glued to the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 fixture, a rain interruption in Colombo has diverted the attention to Southampton, where the second ODI of the ongoing series between England and New Zealand is being played.

After opting to bowl first, New Zealand did not take much time to cash in on the toss advantage as their pacer Trent Boult wreaked havoc with the new ball.

Playing his 100th ODI, Boult made the ball talk as he reduced England to 8/3, dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes.

Boult's spell called for a counter-punching display of batting from the England captain Jos Buttler, who smashed him for three boundaries in a single over.

Buttler had enough of Boult as he hit the speedster for three fours in the seventh over of the innings. All of Buttler's strokes were drilled in front of the wicket as he aimed to resurrect England with a counter-attacking knock.

After England's fourth wicket fell in the form of Harry Brook, Buttler, too, did not last long at the crease as an inside edge on a Mitchell Santer delivery led to his dismissal. He perished after scoring a 25-ball 30.

At the time of writing, England are at 79/5 in 17 overs, with Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone batting on 18 runs each.
