'There are Lots of Ifs And...': Shakib Al Hasan Accepts Bangladesh's Asia Cup 2023 Elimination

After the heartbreaking loss against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh stands eliminated as this was their second consecutive loss. Sri Lanka batted first and posted 257 on the board, with Bangladesh being cleaned up for 236 as they crashed with 21 runs still left to attain.
This loss hurt the Tiger pretty bad as, at one stage, they looked in some control of the game, however, quick wickets in the middle caused them to lose their way during the chase.
Post-game, skipper Shakib Al Hasan expressed his disappointment over the loss, mentioning that they lost because of their bowling as seamers proved to be a bit more expensive while the spinners couldn't get any of the wickets.
Furthermore, he praised the Sri Lankan batter, Sadeera Samarawickrama, for his outstanding knock that took the game away from them. Also, the all-rounder talked about his teammate Towhid Hridoy, who played exceptionally well to score a valiant 82, but his effort went in vain.
"I thought it was a good toss to win at the start. We didn't bowl particularly well. Credit to SL for the way they handled the new ball. Sadeera took the game away from us. 260 on that wicket - we needed a partnership at the start. There was help for the bowlers - both spinners and seamers. Our top four didn't get enough. He batted really well (Hridoy). He played LPL here. Had a good tournament. There are lots of ifs and buts you can talk about. We tried our best. Seamers were bit on the expensive side but they picked up all the wickets so we can't complain there."
Ultimately, he concluded by saying that they gave it their all but, unfortunately, couldn't cross the line on this occasion. Next, they will face India on the 15th of September in their final game of the tournament.
