Liam Livingstone timed his innings to perfection to steer Punjab Kings to an emphatic four-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in match number two of the IPL 2024 season.

The hard-hitting Englishman whacked three towering sixes in his match-winning 38, including one to seal the deal in the final over of the game off Sumit Kumar.

Moreover, Livingstone also flogged Mitchell Marsh for a huge six over fine leg to accumulate 18 from the all-rounder’s fourth over during the tense stages of the run-chase.

Chasing 175 to secure two crucial points in their opening match of the IPL 2024 season, Punjab Kings openers Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow listed six powerplay boundaries in a fiery start to their run-chase.

Prabhsimran Singh at number three also staged 26 runs before a slew of wickets reduced Punjab Kings to 100-4 in 11.3 overs.

Thereafter, Englishman Liam Livingstone joined fellow national and well-set batter Sam Curran at the crease where the two formed 67 runs together from the subsequent 42 deliveries.

Livingstone himself pumped out 38 unbeaten runs off just 21 balls to take his side past the finishing line in the final over.

However, the two cricketers had tilted the game back in Punjab Kings’ favor during the 18th over of the innings itself, when they accumulated 18 runs off Mitchell Marsh. Livingstone’s crashing hook to dispatch the Australian all-rounder for a six over fine leg in the same over further solidified Punjab Kings’ firm grip in the contest.

With Liam Livingstone orchestrating an categorical run-chase for the Punjab Kings, he alongside the rest of his teammates will now travel to Bengaluru for the next chapter of their IPL 2024 crusade.

Under Shikhar Dhawan, they are designated to face hosts RCB in match number six of the competition on March 25.
