The last league game of The Hundred 2024 saw the Manchester Originals take on the Birmingham Phoenix at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. In a rain affcted affair of 30 balls, the Phoenix managed to win the game and qualify for the Eliminator. 

The skipper of the Phoenix, Moeen Ali won the toss and opted to field first in the game. Even though, Matthew Hurst was dismissed cheaply, it looked like Phil Salt will help the Originals post a formidable total on the board. 

Salt's huge maximum gets holed out in the crowd


On the first delivery of the second set, Tim Southee dished up a full length delivery to Phil Salt at the pads. Salt spotted the length and put his front foot forward, then whipping away the ball over the square leg fence for an effortless maximum. The ball cleared the ropes easily but a spectator in the stands put in a great effort to take the catch. 

However, the 'Salt-assault' did not continue for long as Adam Milne accounted for the English opener pretty soon. The Originals posted 41/5 at the end of their allotted 30 balls. 

Birmingham Phoenix win the game to qualify for the Eliminator

The opening duo of the Birimingham Phoenix, Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett got their team off to a dashing start. The early assault by the two batters took the game away from the Originals as the Phoenix chased down the traget pretty easily losing only one wicket with eight balls remaining in the game. 

This win meant that the Phoenix have qualified for the Eliminator and will compete against the Southern Brave for a place in the summit clash of the tournament. The Oval Invincibles, who finished the league stage as the table toppers will play the winner of the Eliminator in the final of The Hundred 2024.
