Iftikhar Ahmed lost his temper at a Pakistan fan present at the Seddon Park in Hamilton during the second T20I of the New Zealand series after he made a "chachu" reference in calling the player on Sunday (January 14).

The fan caught the experienced middle-order batter's attention while he was fielding in the deep during the Kiwi first-innings batting effort in the critical fixture of the T20I trip after he made a nasty comment on his age.

Iftikhar, who is often made fun of with the elderly reference of "chachu" on social media, couldn't ignore this nagging fan too long and told him "Khamosh rahein (shut up)" even as the spectator tried to sneak through telling the player he is his biggest supporter.

The incident happened between overs when Iftikhar, placed in the deep, could no longer take the nasty ageing remarks from a bunch of fans present adjacent to the ropes and told one of them to stop with the jeering.

Having ruffled the cricketer's feathers, the fan recognised he had crossed his line and tried to calm the player down now by telling him he is Iftikhar's fan. But that was to no avail since the player had now picked out the intention of the spectator, who referred to his age and experience.

The age reference has been a constant with Iftikhar even as the earnest cricketer has formed an integral part of Pakistan's middle-order in ODIs and T20Is.

The 33-year-old late-bloomer, who has also played 4 Tests, averages 38.37 with a strike-rate of 106.59 in 28 One-Day Internationals in his role as the end-overs aggressor and has blasted his runs over 50 T20Is at a rate of 132.80.

Iftikhar is one of the key players for Pakistan as they continue to build towards the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June in the Caribbean & USA.
