Daryl Mitchell's elegant six down the ground in the second T20I of the five-match series against Pakistan proved to be costly for the broadcasters and cameramen as it hit the camera placed adjacent to the ropes.

As the New Zealand middle-order batter unleashed a beautiful maximum over the bowler's head past the long-off boundary, the camera placed just next to the ropes at Seddon Park in Hamilton endured a threatening bump.

The cameraman holding the gear had to immediately leave his post and wore a sheepish grin on his face, recognising Mitchell had just jammed one on the camera that was capturing the playing action from the front-on angle.

The incident is from the 11th over of the New Zealand first-innings batting effort on a flat batting surface in Hamilton. Facing Pakistan's young seamer Abbas Afridi's full-pitcher, Mitchell went straight with his picturesque downswing and hammered the ball over the long-off region.

As the maximum was secured, the ball then jammed into the camera which was capturing the action from the straight and left the cameraman shocked with what had just happened since his face was in the way if the ball hadn't collided with the gear first.

The cameraman took a moment for himself before Babar Azam asked if he was fine, and the person simply gestured towards his camera, which had taken a beating and perhaps saved his face.

Mitchell might reserve an apology to the camera person after the game but had no qualms about finding another maximum for his team in the critical second match of the series where the Black Caps were eyeing a 2-0 lead.

The experienced player was one of the heroes of New Zealand's comprehensive triumph in the first match in Auckland with his blistering knock of 61 off just 27 balls.
