The Southern Super Stars continued their unbeaten run in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024, securing an eight-wicket victory against Konark Suryas Odisha (KSO) at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Wednesday. With this win, the Stars cemented their place at the top of the points table, with five wins from five matches. Konark Suryas Odisha, meanwhile, faced their first defeat of the season.

Kedar Jadhav Channels Inner Lasith Malinga In LLC

The match witnessed a memorable moment when Southern Super Stars captain Irfan Pathan introduced part-time bowler Kedar Jadhav into the attack. Jadhav bowled just one over, but his uncanny imitation of Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga’s unique bowling style caught the attention of fans and players alike.

Kedar Jadhav’s slingy action closely mirrored Malinga's in one delivery that almost skimmed the surface. Despite bowling only one over and conceding seven runs, Jadhav's brief appearance added flair to an exciting contest.

Konark Suryas Odisha's Batting Struggle

Earlier in the match, KSO won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Southern Super Stars endured a tough start as KSO took full advantage of the powerplay.

Richard Levi looked unstoppable at the top of the order as he smashed a quickfire 63 off just 21 balls. His explosive innings put immense pressure on the Southern Super Stars' bowlers. However, once Levi departed, KSO struggled to maintain the momentum.

Yusuf Pathan chipped in with a handy 33 off 22 balls in the middle order, but a flurry of wickets in the final overs halted KSO's charge. KSO was restricted to 198/8, a score that looked promising but ultimately proved insufficient.

 The Martin Guptill Masterclass

In response, the Southern Super Stars boasted a strong batting lineup that wasted no time in chasing down the target. Though captain Shreevats Goswami fell early, Martin Guptill anchored the innings with a breathtaking performance.

The New Zealand opener was sublime, as he hammered 131* off just 54 deliveries, which included 11 towering sixes. His dominant knock ensured the Stars cruised to victory with four overs to spare, and finished at 202/2.
