Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers were up against each other on Wednesday (December 13) in Match 7 of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023/24 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Glenn Maxwell, the Stars captain, was not available due to an injury, and in his absence, Marcus Stoinis took on the leadership duties.
Coming to bat at No. 4, Stoinis had the job to do after the Stars slipped to 10/2 in 1.4 overs. However, all he lasted was 20 balls, managing only 13 runs with the help of a boundary. Jason Behrendorff, who claimed excellent figures of 4-1-28-3, got rid of the dangerous Australian all-rounder.
It was a slower bouncer by Behrendorff, which Stoinis tried to pull, only to find a sharp top edge behind. Josh Inglis made no mistake with the big gloves, and completed a simple catch, resulting in Stoinis leaving the mark without making any significant impact.

Meanwhile, the Stars, as of writing, are in tatters against the Scorchers. After 14.5 overs, the Stoinis-led side are left reeling at 80/9, with Haris Rauf and Liam Dawson in the middle, on 0* and 9* respectively.
