Bangladesh's young batter, Jaker Ali, had a forgettable day in the office, as he sustained a severe injury following his collision with veteran opener Anamul Haque Bijoy. The collision looked nasty in real time, concerning fans and experts alike.

The unfortunate incident took place during the fag end of the Sri Lankan innings when Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto handed the ball to Taskin Ahmed to bowl the final over.

After conceding six runs off his first four deliveries, the experienced speedster bowled a short-of-the-length slower ball, with Pramod Madushan going for a wild hoik over the in-field. However, he miscued the lofted shot, as the ball went straight up in the air in the off side.

Jaker Ali and Anamul Haque, fielding inside the 30-yard circle, went for the catch without making each other aware of the fact. This resulted in their deadly collision, following which Jaker fell on the ground with agonising pain.

On the contrary, Anamul managed to hold on to the catch, leading to Madushan's dismissal. Soon after, Jaker Ali was carried off the field on a stretcher for further medical diagnosis.

On the fateful day, Bangladesh witnessed injuries to their several players, particularly Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Sarkar was eventually replaced with Tanzid Hasan, who struck a magnificent fifty as a concussion substitute

Regarding the game, the Tigers have recovered after a mini-collapse that reduced them to 130 for five at one stage. Chasing 236, the hosts were 177 for five in 35.4 overs, with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz steadily guiding them towards victory.
