In an unbelievable display of quality fielding effort, Lahore Qalandars' Jahandad Khan pulled off a running one-handed catch to jolt Islamabad United early in the 163-run chase.

Lahore Qalandars, officially out of the PSL 2024 season playoff race, faced Islamabad United to secure their pride as a two-time champion team. Having nothing to lose, the Shaheen Afridi-led side came out all guns blazing.

Rassie Van der Dussen's controlled 64-run knock, complemented by Shaheen Afridi's 30-run cameo in 14 deliveries, set the tone for Lahore as they posted 162 runs in the first innings.

While the total seemed below par as per Rawalpindi Stadium's standards, Lahore Qalandars fought back with a clinical effort in the field.

Shaheen Afridi opened the attack for his side as usual and was instantly attacked by Colin Munro. However, things went spiralling down for Islamabad United when Alex Hales holed out while trying to join the party.

For the final delivery of the over, Afridi went over the wicket and bowled a fuller delivery onto the leg stump line. Hales charged down the track but could not get the necessary elevation.

While the ball cleared the infield, an alert Jahandad Khan ran backwards from mid-on for over 25-30 yards to grab a one-handed screamer. Khan knew he was running short and stuck his left hand out to somehow get hold of the ball and the young fielder was spot on with his attempt.

It looked like an impossible attempt in real time until Jahandad turned it into reality. That's precisely the commitment Lahore was looking for in this tight chase, and Khan stood up on the occasion.

The entire Lahore Qalandars were up on their feet to applaud Jahandad's sensational effort. He helped Afridi draw the first flood as Qalandars toils for their first win this PSL season.
