Ishan Kishan squandered away his start with the bat against West Indies in the all-important second T20I for India. The opening batter listed a cautious 27 and, amidst a brewing partnership with Tilak Varma, was cleaned up by Romario Shepherd.

The wicketkeeper later turned up for his side while defending 153 runs against the hosts in a bid to level the five-match series. Standing behind the stumps, Kishan tried pulling off an MS Dhoni-like stumping against Rovman Powell, only for the decision to go in favour of the batsman.

West Indies lost three quick wickets in the run-chase, thus paving the way for their skipper Rovman Powell early into the crease. As it turned out, the 'Men in Blue' were presented with another opportunity to claim an additional wicket in the form of Powell during the seventh over of the innings.

It occurred when Yuzvendra Chahal came on to bowl his first over of the match after West Indies reached 61-3 off their six overs. The ace spinner sent down a wide down the leg side neatly collected by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

The Indian keeper smartly waited for a strolling Powell to get an inch away from the crease, which he ultimately ended up doing. However, Kishan was too late in his judgement as he dislodged the bails moments after the West Indies skipper had stepped back into the crease.

Notably, such stumpings were often pulled off by Ishan Kishan's hero and former Indian captain, MS Dhoni. The legendary wicketkeeper even won a match for Team India at the 2016 T20 World Cup against Bangladesh through his street smarts behind the stumps.

Moreover, Dhoni also stumped Ian Bell similarly back in the 2013 Champions Trophy final, which Team Indian ended up winning in a last-over thriller.
