Despite suffering a narrow defeat at the hands of West Indies in their opening T20I encounter in Trinidad on Thursday, Team India found a silver lining in the scintillating debut of Tilak Varma.

Even though India lost the game by four runs, Varma, who first rose to prominence due to his impressive performances for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, shined in his first international outing. 

Scoring a 22-ball 39, the southpaw’s fearlessness against the Windies bowlers in just his first game for India was what was lauded by the fans and experts alike.

In a cheerful exchange ahead of the second T20I in Guyana this Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a Twitter interview between Varma and teammate Ishan Kishan. The friendly banter offered a fresh perspective into Varma's mindset and journey.

Steering the conversation, Kishan encouraged Varma to address his growing fanbase, to which the latter responded, "I would like to say keep supporting."

When prodded further for advice for youngsters aiming to represent India, Varma chose to remain silent which triggered a playful demand for an answer from Kishan.


The conversation then took a musical turn, with Varma linking his journey to the song 'Till I Collapse'. 

Kishan warmly supported this, suggesting, "Please viewers, listen to the song, it’s Tilak Varma’s journey in a way." 

Quick to clarify, Varma interjected, "It’s not my journey, I like the song."

Kishan ended the interview with heartfelt praise for Varma.

"I have seen your game personally and how you deal with pressure situations. You play your natural game and you will do very well in this format and especially in all other formats too when you get the chance,” concluded Kishan.
