Despite getting a great start, courtesy of flamboyant knocks from David Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, Australia suffered a mini batting collapse in the ongoing World Cup game against the Netherlands. After Josh Inglis was caught in the deep off  Bas de Leede's bowling, Warner departed for 104, giving Logan van Beek his second wicket of the day. However, what followed next shocked Australia, as Cameron Green was run out, thanks to a huge mix-up with Glenn Maxwell.

The incident occurred in the 43rd over when Australia were setting the tone for a fitting finish with Maxwell and Green unbeaten in the middle.

After Green took a single in the first ball, Maxwell pushed the second ball into the gap in the leg side. There was a scope for a brace; so the swashbuckling finisher ran instantly towards the striker's end after completing the first run.

However, unfortunately for Australia, Dutch fielder Sybrand Engelbrecht exhibited commendable athleticism, picking the ball up and hitting the bull's eye from deep to find Green short of the crease at the bowler's end. As a result, the promising all-rounder departed, scoring just eight runs in his second World Cup game.

As of writing, Australia are well-placed at 314 for six, with Maxwell and Pat Cummins batting on 35* and 3*, respectively.
