After an embarrassing defeat in the first ODI, the India Women's team continues its horrendous run in the 50-over format as they conceded 371 for 8 Vs Australia in the second ODI on Sunday morning.
This was India's highest team total conceded in ODI cricket as the Australian batters piled on runs for fun and took the Indian attack to the cleaners. Interestingly, this was Australia's second highest total against India in ODIs, surpassing their previous best of 338 for 7, which they scored in Mumbai, earlier this year.
Opener, Georgia Voll took charge of the attack and was at her absolute best as the talented batter made a mockery of the Indian bowlers and slammed a brilliant 84-ball ton to lay a platform for the middle-order batters.
After Voll departed, it was time for the Ellyse Perry show as the all-rounder scored 105 off 75 deliveries and made sure that India were on the back-foot in the first innings itself.
Apart from Perry and Voll, Beth Mooney (56), and Phoebe Litchfield (60), scored valuable fifties as Australia posted mammoth score in the second ODI.
Highest totals Vs India Women in ODIs
Team | Total score | Year |
---|---|---|
Australia | 371/8 | 2024 |
Australia | 338/7 | 2024 |
Australia | 332/7 | 2018 |
Twice in 2024 have Australia broken their record Vs India. Earlier in Mumbai, they scored 338/7, and today, they followed it up with a brilliant 371 as the Indian attack had no answer to the Aussie onslaught.
At one stage, Australia were set to cross the 400-run mark, but Perry's wicket triggered a mini collapse as Australia had to settle for a score of 371. India have a tough task ahead as they need a mountain to climb to level the series.
