Warwickshiere and Gloucestershire faced off in the fourth Quarter Final of T20 Vitality Blast 2024. The match was being played at Edgbaston in Birmingham, United Kingdom on September 6.

Warwickshire won the toss in this game and put Gloucestershire into bat. Miles Hammond and Cameron Bancroft got Gloucestershire off to a good start as they stitched a 51-run partnership for the first wicket. The duo looked in a good form and could have taken the game away from Warwickshire had they lasted a bit longer.

Cameron Bancroft held one end for Gloucestershire

Miles Hammond was however dismissed in the sixth over and from there the momentum of the game gradually started to change. After the fall of the first, Gloucestershire kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and sinking into deeper trouble.

However, their opener, Cameron Bancroft was holding one end and trying to keep things stable. He was batting steadily and looked difficult to be dismissed. It took a brilliant effort by George Garton to see the end of Bancroft in the match.

On the second delivery of the 16th over, Lintott bowled a shortish delivery at the stumps. The batter Tom Price mistimed a pull towards long-on. As the ball did not have much pace, the batters set off for a quick couple of runs. George Garton fielding in the deep ran to his left, picked up the ball and hit the stumps at the non-striker's end on the direct hit. The replays showed that Bancroft of was well short of his ground when the bails have been dislodged. It was a remarkable effort by Garton and this bit of excellence earned him praise from the cricketing fraternity.

Warwickshire failed to chase down a moderate total

Gloucestershire managed to score 138 before they were bundled out in the 20th over of the innings.

In reply, Warwickshire failed to show much resilience. Chris Benjamin was the highest scorer for them with 33 runs from 27 deliveries. David Payne and Oliver Price led the bowling effort for Gloucestershire with four and three wickets respectively. Warwickshire were restricted to 124/9 at the end of 20 overs. Gloucestershire won the match by 14 runs and made it to the semi-finals of the tournament.
