The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Barbados are battling in the ninth match of the CPL 2024, which is being played at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Ryan John and Clarkson helped the Patriots to a fighting total

The Patriots batted first in the game after Rovman Powell won the toss and put them in. They lost three wickets before scoring a single run. Wanindu Hasaranga played a valuable knock under pressure and stabilised the ship for his team. However, they lost wickets in a bunch once more during the halfway stage and were struggling to post a respectable total on the board.

Josh Clarkson and Ryan John's efforts lower down the order helped the Patriots to a fighting total of 153/8 in their 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock failed to repeat his antics from the last outing

The Royals were banking on a dynamic start from their openers, Quinton de Kock and Rahkeem Cornwall. However, Cornwall's early fall in the first over sent shockwaves through the Royals' camp, derailing their chase from the outset.

Quinton de Kock, who played a brilliant knock in the last game, was also looking a good touch in this match. He played some gorgeous shots, and it looked like the southpaw would again play a match-winning knock in the middle. However, QDK's LSG teammate, Kyle Mayers, had other ideas.

On the first delivery of the fifth over, Mayers bowled a slower delivery that moved in towards the batter. De Kock was looking to drive the ball but was beaten by the lack of pace on the delivery. The ball snuck in through the gap between the bat and the pad and clattered into the stumps. This marked the end of de Kock despite a promising start.

At the time of writing, the Royals are positioned at 137/6 in 18 overs. They need 17 runs off 12 deliveries to win the game.
