The Barbados Royals and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are battling it out in the ninth match of CPL 2024 at the Warner Park Stadium in St. Kitts. The Royals are stuttering in a chase of a moderate target set by the Patriots after they were put into bat by Rovman Powell.

Patriots struggled their way to a fighting total

The Patriots had the most disastrous start possible to their innings. They lost their big three of batting - Evin Lewis, Kyle Mayers and Andre Fletcher before getting off the mark. However, Wanindu Hasaranga and Mikyle Louis fought hard and stabilised the innings for the team with an 82-run partnership off 42 deliveries.

But the Patriots once again lost three wickets in quick succession and sunk deeper into a hole. However, Ryan John and Josh Clarkson provided the team with a decent finish and took the team to a fighting total of 153/8 at the end of their 20 overs.

The Royals also lost a wicket early in the chase. Kyle Mayers sent Rahkeem Cornwall back to the pavilion on the second delivery of the innings. After this, Quinton de Kock was on duty to stabilise the Royals' start.

The South African batter looked in a great flow as he played some gorgeous strokes during his presence in the middle. On the fourth delivery of the second over, de Kock played a gorgeous cover drive off his countryman, Anrich Nortje's bowling. The speedster dished up a full delivery outside the off stump. De Kock climbed onto the length of the ball and creamed the ball over covers for a boundary.

Though he looked good in the middle, he could not last long in the middle. Kyle Mayers accounted for him, too, when QDK was stationed at 19 off 12 deliveries.

At the time of writing, the Royals have 93/4 on the board at the end of 13 overs.

Yuvraj Singh's grace

The cover drive by de Kock reminded many fans of the Indian legend Yuvraj Singh. The Indian southpaw was known for his gorgeous drives during his playing days. The grace and ease with which he played his shots made the whole cricketing fraternity his fans.
