Fakhar Zaman tried hard to help Pakistan revive along with Babar Azam on Wednesday in the Champions Trophy 2025 opener at National Stadium, Karachi. However, the veteran opener could not last long, as Michael Bracewell cleaned him up once he reached 24 off 41 balls.

Of course, Fakhar was not at his fluent best after sustaining an injury earlier in the game. In fact, he was forced not to open the innings due to laws before Bracewell ended his struggles during the 21st over of Pakistan’s innings.

No Fakhar Zaman Show In Karachi!

After failing to get proper connection with the bat, Fakhar tried to play some aggressive shots in order to break the shackles. However, Bracewell was too clever against him as the ball went on to rattle the middle stump after Pakistan batter’s failed slog sweep.

Pakistan Rely On Babar Azam For A Magical Comeback!

Meanwhile, Pakistan are in a spot of bother, reaching 82/3 after 24.4 overs, with Babar Azam batting on 41* off 67 balls. With Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar no longer available for the game, it is needless to say that Babar holds the key for Pakistan.

The task, nevertheless, in not an easy one, as Pakistan are chasing a challenging target of 321. Vice-captain Salman Agha is currently in the middle alongside Babar, followed by Tayyab Tahir and Khushdil Shah. After that, they only have Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf to come.
