Yashasvi Jaiswal in action (Source: Hotstar Screengrab)
Yashasvi Jaiswal was in focus on Thursday when India were in action at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, to face England for the first ODI of the three-match series. The 23-year-old, who made his debut in the 50-over format just before the clash, made his impact immediately, and that too without taking the bat in his hand.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Goes Flying!
It all happened during the 10th over of India’s innings when Harshit Rana was bowling to a well-set Ben Duckett. Batting on 32 off 29 balls, the southpaw tried to attack a short-length delivery, only to find a huge top edge.
Placed inside the circle, Jaiswal kept running backwards while keeping his eyes on the ball before making an excellent dive to grab a spectacular catch. In the process, Rana got success after early hammering.
One brought two, as Rana got another wicket in the very same over, as Harry Brook fell for a three-ball duck.
Root, Buttler To Steady The Ship!
At the time of writing this, England are three down for 77 runs, with Joe Root and Jos Buttler in the middle. While Root, making his return to ODIs after 15 months, is batting on 1*, Buttler is still off the mark. For India, Harshit took two wickets, while the other, which was of Phil Salt's, fell after a terrible mix-up in the middle.
Earlier in the game, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss, and decided to bat first. The biggest shock from the toss was Rohit's confirmation of Virat Kohli's absence from the first ODI.
