The Trinbago Knight Riders and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are engaging in a fierce battle in the third match of CPL 2024 at Warner Park in St. Kitts, West Indies. The Knight Riders, despite being put in by Andre Fletcher, the skipper of the Patriots, displayed an impressive batting performance in the game.

TKR posted a mammoth total on the board

Even after the fall of Jason Roy and Sunil Narine, the Knight Riders scored at over 12 runs per over in the first six overs. This gave the middle-order batter the momentum that they needed to carry forward to put a formidable total on the board.

Nicholas Pooran took a toll on the SKNP bowlers and thrashed to all parts of the ground. Pooran scored a destructive 97 off 43 balls and ensured the Knights were propelled towards a massive total. Keacy Carty also played an aggressive knock and scored 73 runs off 35 balls. These two batters helped Knight Riders reach a massive total of 250/4 in their 20 overs.

Evin Lewis failed to capitalise on the promising start he got

In response, the Patriots faced a daunting task after losing Andre Fletcher and Kyle Mayers within the second over. This early setback put them under significant pressure. However, at this stage, Evin Lewis decided to accelerate and match the scoring rate, injecting a sense of hope and anticipation into the game.

However, the Afghan left-arm wrist spinner, Waqar Salamkheil, got the better of Lewis in the seventh over. On the last delivery of the over, Salamkheil tossed up the ball around the off and middle stump and invited a big shot from Lewis. Lewis fell into the trap as he swung across the line and missed the googly. The ball crashed into the stumps and put the Patriots under further pressure.

At the time of writing the Patritots are stationed at 180/7 in 18 overs, in a chase of 251 runs.
