The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are facing the St. Lucia Kings in the fifth match of the CPL 2024 at the Warner Park in St. Kitts, West Indies.  The Patriots were put to bat in the match after Faf du Plessis, the skipper of the St. Lucia Kings won the toss.

It is the same venue where the Trinbago Knight Riders had posted 250 in the last game against the Patriots. The Patriots after losing that game by 44 runs would be eager to put in a strong show in this game and make a strong comeback.

The viewers were expecting another run fest in this game and were hoping for Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis to get the Patriots off to a blazing start. However, that did not happen as Andre Fletcher fell to a run out pretty early in the innings. As Fletcher departed, Kyle Mayers joined Evin Lewis in the middle.

Lewis and Mayers rebuild the innings for the Patriots

Lewis and Mayers built steadily and started the repair job for the Patriots. Both the batters struggled to get their timing right at the beginning. However, as they spent time in the middle, the ball started to hit the middle of their blades. Evin Lewis, gathered momentum pretty quickly. He started blasting the bowlers of the Kings and Govia unfortunately fell prey to the onslaught in the eighth over.

Evin Lewis destroyed Govia in the 8th over

On the second, third and fourth deliveries of the over, Evin Lewis hit Govia for three massive sixes. The longest of the lot was the last one. After being plundered on both the full and short length of the previous two deliveries, Govia persisted on going with the shorter one once more. Lewis spotted the length pretty early and rocked back to pull the ball away and out of the ground for a massive maximum.

At the time of writing, the Patriots are stationed at 118/1 in 12.4 overs.
