Indian batting great Virat Kohli rode his luck in the ongoing second ODI against Sri Lanka, as the Decision Review System gave him a lifeline, saving him from a controversial LBW dismissal.

After restricting Sri Lanka to a respectable 240-run total, India had an outstanding start to their innings, with skipper Rohit Sharma smashing a quick-fire half-century. After Rohit was outfoxed by Jeffrey Vandersay, Kohli joined Shubman Gill in the middle.

As anyone would expect from a player of his calibre, Kohli had a dream start to his innings, hitting a couple of glorious boundaries to get going.

However, experienced Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya finally outfoxed him with a beauty, as his googly trapped Kohli plumb in front of the stumps.

As the Sri Lankan players appealed for a leg before, the umpire declared Kohli out without any hesitation. However, Kohli took a chance and went upstairs to challenge the decision.

The TV umpire saw a spike in the ultra-edge, eventually asking his on-field colleague to reverse his decision.

As a result, Kohli survived the LBW scare, but the reversal of the decision disappointed the Sri Lankan players.

In particular, Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka seemed displeased with the incident, as they argued with the on-field umpire.

Nevertheless, the spinners have brought Sri Lanka right back in the contest, reducing India to 116 for three in 17.5 overs as of writing.
