Royal Challengers Bengaluru's prominent batter Rajat Patidar missed out on a well-deserved half-century, as promising spinner Saransh Jain dismissed him in the Duleep Trophy 2024 affair between India C and India D. Coming at number four, Patidar struck a glorious 77-ball 44 before Jain got rid of him to bring some respite for his team.

The incident occurred during the 38th over of India C's second innings when India D desperately needed someone to break the third-wicket stand between Rajat Patidar and Aryan Juyal. Shreyas Iyer's decision to bring Saransh Jain for an over proved a tactical masterstroke, as the off-spinner outfoxed Patidar with a beauty.

After starting his over with a dot ball, Jain came around the wicket to bowl a full-length delivery to Patidar, who decided to shift gears with an aggressive shot.

However, as he danced down the track for a lofted shot, the right-handed batter was completely deceived by the ball's trajectory.

He was comprehensively beaten by the flight, with KS Bharat cleanly collecting the ball behind the stumps. Before Patidar could make his ground at the striker's end, Bharat dislodged the bails to send him packing. This was Saransh Jain's third wicket in the second innings, as he gave an angry stare to Patidar, who departed for 44 runs.

India C secure a thumping win against India D

Despite losing Patidar at a crucial juncture of the match, India C chased a challenging 233-run target, riding on valuable contributions from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Aryan Juyal and Abhishek Porel. With a clinical four-wicket win, they bagged six crucial points and opened their account in the Duleep Trophy 2024 standings.
