Dhruv Jurel pouched a sensational diving catch to pack Venkatesh Iyer in the final over of the KKR innings in match number 31 of the IPL 2024 season.

Turning up for his side at the iconic Eden Gardens, Jurel ran back from the circle and dove to his left after Venkatesh miscued Kuldeep Sen’s slower delivery.

Batting at number seven and arriving to the crease at 195-5 following the dismissal of centurion Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer reached eight unbeaten runs off his first five deliveries heading into the final over of the innings.

Facing Kuldeep Sen in the second ball of the 20th over, Venkatesh went after the speedster’s slower off-cutter, only to get holed out by a diving Dhruv Jurel.

Dhruv Jurel’s sensational diving attempt packed Venkatesh back to the pavilion with a six-ball eight to his name. Rinku Singh maximized off the remaining few deliveries of the over to take KKR to a colossal 223-6 at the end of the innings.

Earlier in the match, KKR opener Sunil Narine produced an unlikely century at the top, scoring a career-best 109 from 56 balls. The West Indies-based all-rounder bashed 13 boundaries and six sixes in his innings, and shared crucial partnerships with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Andre Russell.

The match, marking the 31st of the IPL 2024 season, is contested between the top two sides on the 10-team points table. While Rajasthan Royals is currently placed at the top of the ladder, a win for KKR might help them displace the former from the summit.
