Derone Davis with a stunning catch [X]
USA fast bowler Derone Davis held on to a blinder in match number two of the MLC 2024 season against Texas Super Kings. Turning up for the Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, the 31-year-old sprinted towards his left from deep third before taking a sensational reverse-cup catch in front of his face.
While the ball popped out of Derone’s hands for an instant, the cricketer quickly recovered to complete the grab on his second go to pack TSK’s number four Joshua Tromp back to the pavilion at 103-4. The dismissal also signaled a middle-order batting collapse for the TSK, which eventually resulted in an emphatic 12-run win for the Sunil Narine-led Los Angeles Knight Riders group.

Chasing 163 for a win, TSK openers Devon Conway and captain Faf du Plessis shared 30 runs together in 4.3 overs before the former went on to smack an imperial half-century during his partnership with Joshua Tromp.
However, just as the TSK reached 102-2 in 13.1 overs, LAKR fast bowler Ali Khan knocked over a well-set Conway before dismissing Tromp for a 14-ball 18 later in the same over. With Khan digging in short outside the off stump, Tromp went on to ramp the ball towards fine leg only to find a diving Derone Davis around the region.
Running from deep third man, Davis made a dive and took a sensational reverse-cup catch in front of his face. While the 31-year-old lost his grip over the ball for an instant, the cricketer quickly recovered and completed the grab on his second attempt as TSK crumbled further at 103-4.
Earlier in the match, LAKR listed 162-7 courtesy of a 45-ball 68 from number three Unmukt Chand. Derone Davis also scored a run-a-ball 13* during the death overs of the innings.
Later during the TSK chase, Ali Khan bagged four wickets off his four overs to secure a 12-run win for the LAKR.
