SKM Salem Spartans and Siechem Madurai Panthers will face each other in match number three of the ongoing 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) season. 

Marking the opening match for both sides this competition, the much-awaited contest will be staged at Salem and the action will commence from 7:15 PM IST onwards.

SKM Salem Spartans finished at number seven on the TNPL 2023 points table last year. Under the leadership of Abhishek Tanwar, the Spartans secured just two wins out of seven league fixtures and failed to qualify for the knockouts.

With top-order batter Shijit Chandran leading the team this time around, the Salem Spartans will be hoping to rectify last year’s mistakes by finishing higher on the eight-team standings in TNPL 2024.

All-rounder Sunny Sandhu will start out as one of the key players for the Spartans, considering the 20-year-old has emerged as their leading run-scorer as well as the leading wicket-taker in the past seven games.

Siechem Madurai Panthers

Siechem Madurai Panthers reached the Eliminator of the 2023 TNPL season in Salem where they lost to runners-up Nellai Royal Kings in a high-scoring thriller. Led by Hari Nishaanth, the Madurai Panthers registered four wins out of their final five league fixtures after losing two in succession upfront.

With players like Jagatheesan Kousik, Gurjapneet Singh, Hari Nishaanth and Ajay Krishna in the ranks; the Siechem Madurai Panthers will consider themselves favourites to go one step further this season. They also hold a superior head-to-head record over Salem Spartans off late, having won four of their five previous tussles.

The Madurai Panthers, however, are set to miss the services of senior all-rounder Washington Sundar, as he will be engaged in Zimbabwe for India’s five-match T20I series.
