Washington Sundar is the talk of the town currently after his remarkable comeback in Test cricket. He picked up 11 wickets in the Pune Test and scored some crucial runs as well. The all-rounder has also been a regular in T20Is for India in recent times and has delivered some impressive performances. So, with mega auction for IPL 2025 coming closer, there is buzz around Washington Sundar and his stocks have increased quite a lot.

Sundar has been part of SRH's unit in the last few years, but he is unlikely to be retained by them and other teams are keen to take advantage of the situation. According to a TOI report, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans are interested in Washington Sundar. So, he is likely to get good bucks in the auction and let's now see which team would be a perfect fit for the all-rounder.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions are into a new era now with MS Dhoni no longer their skipper. Ruturaj Gaikwad led them in the last season and he is likely to continue this season, but with mega auction approaching, they would be looking to rebuild their team. In this context, Washington Sundar, a spin-bowling all-rounder could be a handy option at the Chepauk. He will also add a local flavour as he is a Chennai-born lad and CSK have always been inclined towards spin-bowling all-rounder who can help them dominate at home.

Also, with Ravindra Jadeja aging, and Dhoni at the end of his career, Washington Sundar can be a good finisher and a good replacement for someone like Jadeja with his all-round skills. He can bat anywhere in the batting line-up and can bowl in different situations of the game which aligns with the players who have been successful for CSK over the years.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians are one of the most high-profile teams in the IPL. They have also won the IPL trophy five times, but they finished last in the previous season and Washington Sundar's inclusion can add depth to their line-up. 

In the last few years, MI have been light on spin department and Washington Sundar can fill that gap to perfection. He has been effective on flat tracks in T20Is, and so he could be handy at Wankhede to provide control and crucial breakthroughs. Gujarat Titans (GT)

He might get a chance to bat at higher position in the GT squad which would suit his game better, and his bowling has always been an asset for any team he plays for. He can be a good long term-option with age on his side and could help young franchise to go from strength to strength in the upcoming seasons.
