Experienced Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar had a memorable outing in Mumbai Indians' inaugural IPL 2025 clash against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Besides scoring 28* runs with the bat, Chahar showcased his skills with the ball, scalping the crucial wicket of Rahul Tripathi. 

Chahar Sledges MS Dhoni In A Fiery Exchange

However, apart from his scintillating performances, Chahar grabbed the limelight with his fiery body language. The former CSK pacer even went on to sledge his ex-teammates, including the legendary MS Dhoni. 

The incident occurred when MS Dhoni had just entered the middle following the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja in the 19th over. The match was already in CSK's kitty, as the 2023-edition champions needed only four runs to win the high-profile contest. 

As Dhoni was about to take his stance after tapping his bat at the striker's end, Chahar went near him, exchanging a few words with his former IPL captain. However, it was more of a friendly banter between the two, and Dhoni responded with a hit on Chahar's back after the match concluded. 

These instances reflected on the bond and camaraderie Chahar shares with Dhoni, having played with him in CSK colours for several years. 

What Happened In MI vs CSK Match?

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Chennai Super Kings put up a stellar show with the ball, restricting MI to 155 in 20 overs. In response, the hosts gunned down the target in 19.1 overs, with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and opener Rachin Ravindra playing pivotal knocks.
