In a significant development which may concern the fans and well-wishers of Bangladesh cricket, legendary batter Tamim Iqbal has been hospitalised following discomfort in his chest. The incident happened during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League encounter between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.
Tamim Iqbal Experiences Chest Pain, Rushed To Hospital
As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Tamim complained of chest pain while fielding in the high-voltage Dhaka Premier League face-off between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.
After he experienced some discomfort in his chest, the authorities arranged a helicopter for his swift transfer to the hospital. However, unfortunately, the cricketer couldn't be flown from the venue. As a result, he was taken to the Fazilatunnesa Hospital in Kasimpur, Bangladesh.
Tamim Iqbal's International Career And Stats
Regarded for his flamboyant stroke play, Tamim Iqbal made his international debut in an ODI against Zimbabwe back in 2007. He grabbed the limelight with a power-packed fifty against India in the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean.
The stylish southpaw went on to play numerous match-winning knocks for the Tigers across formats. He is the second most successful batter for Bangladesh in international cricket after Mushfiqur Rahim.
In 387 matches for Bangladesh, Tamim has struck 15192 runs across formats, including 25 hundreds and 94 fifties. He has also represented Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League.
However, his feud with the Bangladesh Cricket Board led to his exclusion from the team, prompting him to announce a premature retirement from international cricket.
