Charith Asalanka delivered an impactful performance in Match No.38 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 against the Netherlands, scoring 46 runs off just 21 balls. His aggressive inning featured one four and five towering sixes. 

One of the most memorable moments came on the fifth delivery of the 15th over of the Sri Lankan innings when Asalanka smashed a massive six, sending the ball out of the park and over the roof. 

Facing a back-of-a-length delivery that was banged into the surface and angling away from the middle stump line, Asalanka got underneath it and executed a powerful pull shot with the breeze. 

The clean strike resulted in a 95-meter hit over deep midwicket, landing on the roof and necessitating the reserve umpire to bring out a box of new balls.

Talking about the match, Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka. Lanka had a shaky start, losing opener Pathum Nissanka for a silver duck. 

Despite this early setback, Charith Asalanka made a significant contribution with a brisk 46 runs off 21 balls. However, he couldn't extend his innings much further and was eventually dismissed by Logan van Beek.

Sri Lanka managed to post a formidable total of 201/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
