In the 33rd match of the World Cup 2023, the hosts are taking on the Sri Lankan team on the same ground where they played the World Cup 2011 final. The Sri Lankan seamers are keeping the Indian batters in check.

The wicket seems to be dry and is helping the Sri Lankan seamers. The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma was off the mark with a four on the first delivery of the innings but on the very next delivery, Madushanka bowled a ripper on the stumps line leaving him clueless and taking the off stump along.

Virat Kohli struggling early in his innings:

Virat Kohli had to come a bit early as Rohit Sharma got out on the second delivery of the innings. Dushmantha Chameera and Dilshan Madushanka were keeping it tight for the Indian batters. Madushanka, the premier left-arm seamer of the Sri Lankan team was using his variations, while Chameera was bowling with sheer pace and swing. 

Both the bowlers were exceptional in their first spell as they went on to trouble Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. They even created some chances but the fielders could not hold onto the catches and a couple were half chances as well. 

Now, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli have spent enough time in the middle and are hitting consistent boundaries. Both of them have scored half-centuries now and is looking in great touch after struggling in the initial overs.
