Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 has been up and running, with players from different regions across the world putting in the effort to make a name for themselves. Still in the nascent stages this year, BPL is currently hosting the eighth match of the season between Khulna Tigers and Dhaka Capitals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
During the tenth over of the first innings, Khulna skipper, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while batting on eight, leading his team's resurgence after they were three wickets down with 75 on the board, played a loose shot that cost him his wicket.
In what was the seventh bowling option for Dhaka inside 10 overs, skipper Thisara Perera decided to bring himself, which turned out to be a move that paid dividends in the most unlikely manner.
Perera bowled the delivery outside-off, which tempted Miraz to attempt a shot as he went to guide the ball and made decent contact but, unfortunately, landed the ball straight into the hands of the third man, who caught it without any fuss.
Mehidy's innings ended on 8 off 10 deliveries as Khulna were reduced to 75 for four and the team ended with a score of 173. Perera's masterstroke worked as he did not bother to return back to bowling, indicating that he specifically came on to get the better of his opposite number.
Khula Looking For Their Second Consecutive Victory
Having won their first game against Chittagong Kings by 37 runs, the Tigers are placed second on the table after their only match of the season so far with two points. Meanwhile, the Capitals are in a spot of bother with two losses in two games they have featured in so far and will be looking to turn their fortunes around in the encounter.
By the time of writing, the Tigers were 150 for si by the end of 17 overs, with Mahidul Islam Ankon and Ziaur Rahman still at the crease.
