The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have disappointed their huge fan base for 17 years by not being able to win the title even once. One of the major faults for RCB has been their strategy in the IPL auctions.

Even during the IPL 2025 auction, there were a few decisions by the RCB management that were met with criticism. However, when you look at the overall auction of the team and compare it to their previous years, you get the feeling that they have done better this time around.

Keeping their retentions and how their auction went, here are three players that RCB would be rather happy to have released. 

3. Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis as the leader of the RCB team during IPL 2024. However, ahead of IPL 2025 auction, the management decided to release him. If we take a look at the recent performances of the South African star, then we can see that he has only one 30 plus score in the last five innings. This shows that the player is not in the best of touches and hence it would make the management happy that they did not retain him or repurchase him during the auction.

2. Glenn Maxwell

The Australian all-rounder played a vital role for the team in the first couple of seasons. However, IPL 2024 was not the ideal season for the Australian superstar. Glenn Maxwell failed to leave any kind of impact during the season and as a result was released ahead of IPL 2025 auction. Since IPL 2024, Maxwell has struggled with his form. He has done well in matches but the consistency has been largely missing. Even in this year's BBL, Maxwell has scored only 53 runs in four innings and has not been in the best of touches.

1. Mohammed Siraj

The Indian pacer has been struggling with his rhythm in the recent times. Mohammed Siraj did not have a dream of a season in IPL 2024. His lack of consistency and rhythm has continued after that. Mohammed Siraj has struggled to pick up regular wickets in any format and as a result has failed to leave the impact on a game that is expected of him. Looking at his current form, the release of Siraj looks like one of the best decisions from the management.
