To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction is all set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 576 players will go under the hammer, with ten franchises engaging in multiple bidding wars to secure their services.

Regarding Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions haven't won the IPL trophy since 2021. Given that they retained five players, MI can use one RTM card in the mega auction. However, they can use it only for an uncapped player, as they have retained all capped players. This is precisely why they can't use the RTM card for Ishan Kishan.

So, as they aim to revamp their core, let's analyse and find out who their targeted RTM candidates could be in the mega auction.

Nehal Wadhera

Why will MI use RTM card for Nehal Wadhera?

  • Nehal Wadhera is a promising middle-order batter who showcased his incredible hard-hitting skills during his brief stint with Mumbai Indians.
  • The swashbuckling southpaw can boost MI's middle order with his belligerent stroke play. More importantly, he can be used as their impact substitute in case their top order collapses.

Akash Madhwal

Why will MI use RTM card for Akash Madhwal?

  • The promising fast bowler led Mumbai Indians' pace battery when Jasprit Bumrah missed an entire IPL season due to injury.
  • Akash Madhwal's ability to excel in the death overs makes him a brilliant T20 prospect. The seamer was a vital cog in MI's setup and knows how to utilise Mumbai's seam-friendly conditions.

Anshul Kamboj

Why will MI use RTM card for Anshul Kamboj?

  • The young right-arm fast bowler was exceptional with the new ball in the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup tournament. Opening the bowling for India, Anshul Kamboj exhibited commendable control with the new ball, troubling the batters with his pace and movement.
  • Considering MI need a quality new ball bowler to partner Jasprit Bumrah, MI might try to get Kamboj back using the RTM card.
