Explosive opener Brandon King ensured a brisk start for West Indies in their ongoing T20 World Cup Super Eights clash against England at Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia.

After England invited West Indies to bat, King stepped up with the bat as the co-hosts capitalised on the powerplay field restrictions. Although the stylish batter hammered several scintillating shots, his massive six off Reece Topley grabbed attention.

The incident occurred during the third over of West Indies' innings when King and his opening partner Johnson Charles were starting to shift gears. After bowling two consecutive dot balls, Topley delivered a full-length ball on stumps-line from over the wicket.

It was right in the slot, inviting King to free his arms. The destructive batter accepted the invitation gleefully, dispatching the ball over the mid wicket stand. He smashed the ball so powerfully that it went out of the ground.

However, despite looking sublime in the middle, King couldn't bat long, retiring hurt due to an unfortunate groin injury. Following his departure, swashbuckling southpaw Nicholas Pooran joined Charles in the middle.

As of writing, the Men in Maroon were comfortably placed at 52 for none in 5.3 overs, with Charles and Pooran unbeaten on 21* and 4*, respectively.
