In a significant development, Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bowl in their first T20 World Cup 2024 game against Sri Lanka at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. To the misfortune of Bangladesh, ace left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam won't be a part of this match as he has been replaced with promising speedster Tanzim Hasan Sakib. 


Why Is Shoriful Islam Not Playing BAN vs SL match?

Unfortunately, Bangladesh will miss the services of talented left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam in their first T20 World Cup game against Sri Lanka. 

Notably, Shoriful was doubtful for this game after he sustained a blow to his fingers while trying to block a powerful shot from Hardik Pandya during the warm-up clash between India and Bangladesh. 

He was in serious discomfort as instantly went off the field accompanied by the team physio. It is understood that the injury has ruled Shoriful out of this game, with Tanzim Hasan replacing him in the playing XI. 

In 41 T20Is, Shoriful has scalped 46 wickets at an impressive strike rate of 16. In his absence, Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan will spearhead the Tigers pace department alongside Taskin.
