As a cricketer, playing in a 50-overs World Cup is a dream, however, for Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah, it remains a distant one for the time.

Shah has missed the flight to India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 next month, after being ruled out of the marquee tournament due to an unfortunate injury.

The young pacer injured himself in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 and has been replaced in the squad by out-of-favour all-rounder Hasan Ali. Pakistan will start their WC campaign on October 6 against the Netherlands, and play host India on October 14 at Ahmedabad.

As stated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shah will undergo surgery and will take at least three-four months to get back on the field.

The 20-year-old took to the social media platform 'X' and expressed his disappointment over missing out on the competition while hoping for a quick turnaround.

Here's What Shah Posted

"With a heavy heart, I'm sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I'm disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah's hands. InshahAllah will be on the field very soon. Thank you to all my fans for the prayers!"
