The upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 holds importance for Team India fans, who are eagerly awaiting to see Rohit Sharma and Co. lift the coveted trophy and wash out India's title drought.

The upcoming World Cup will be held in India from October 5, and the host will play its first match against five-time winners Australia on October 8.

Former India captain Virat Kohli, who won the ICC WC title in 2011, is the only remaining player active from that squad to feature in the 2023 WC. There is an outside chance of Ravichandran Ashwin also making a last-minute entry.

However, for Kohli, it is all about bringing joy to Indian fans, who have been a constant support. Speaking to Star Sports, the 34-year-old stated how Team India wants to create new memories for fans and look to recreate 2011 magic.

Here's what Kohli said

“The passion and unwavering support of our fans is what fuels our determination to win the World Cup. The memories of past World Cup victories, especially the iconic 2011 win, are etched in our hearts, and we want to create new memories for our fans. I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible campaign which perfectly captures the emotions of our fans, and we're ready to give it our all to make their dreams come true,"

Meanwhile, Kohli has been rested for the first two ODIs against Australia and will rejoin the squad for the third and final encounter. The first ODI will be played today at Mohali.
