The world's No. 1-ranked batsman Babar Azam had the opportunity to get back to his good old form on Tuesday (October 10) before Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 clash against India at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. 

However, the Men in Green skipper brought disappointment to his ardent fans, and more significantly, the ball that got his wicket did not have anything in it to succeed.

Batting on 10 off 15 deliveries, Dilshan Madushanka bowled a fullish delivery that swang down the leg side. The ball was bound to be punished, but Babar could only manage to contact it with a slight tickle. The brilliant Sadeera Samarawickrama, who scored an amazing century earlier in the day, completed a simple catch with the big gloves to end Babar's innings.

Babar was in complete shock after his wicket, given he could only muster 5 off 18 deliveries earlier in their World Cup outing against the Netherlands.

The Men in Green badly required Babar to perform in Hyderabad, as they were chasing a monumental target of 345 against Sri Lanka. At the time of writing, Pakistan are 49/2 in 10.1 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan holding the key for them.
