Hasan Ali's brilliant performance with the new ball gave Pakistan an ideal start on Tuesday during their World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The right-arm quick, who is making a comeback in international cricket in this showpiece event, got rid of Sri Lanka's dangerous opener Kusal Perera for duck in the second over of the innings.

It was a regulation good length delivery by Hasan, which was pitched just outside the off stump. Kusal tried to slash it, but failed to time it with the middle of his bat. As a result, the ball could only find a thin outside edge, and Mohammad Rizwan made no mistake in taking the catch with big gloves.

Hasan, as well as other Pakistani players were delighted to get Kusal early in the innings, while the Sri Lankan opener, who is having a daunting period, was disappointed after another miserable show.

Sri Lanka, earlier, won the toss and opted to bat first against the Men in Green in Hyderabad. At the time of writing, the Lankan lions, at the time of writing, are 15/1 in 3.1 overs, with Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka in middle.
