Shaheen Afridi struggled to get a wicket on Tuesday (October 10) during Pakistan's World Cup 2023 fixture against Sri Lanka, taking place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. However, the talismanic left-arm quick finally got success in the 47th over of Sri Lanka's innings when Babar Azam completed an excellent running catch while running from the boundary line.

More significantly, it was Dasun Shanaka, Babar’s counterpart, who was dismissed for their combination.

It was a slower off-cutter delivery by Shaheen, and Shanaka, batting on 12 off 18 balls, tried to loft it over long-off. However, the timing was not great, and Babar, who placed himself down the boundary line, ran quickly to make it look like a simple catch.

Shaheen Afridi seemed relieved after the catch, and went to Babar Azam to celebrate it. It was a rare bad day for the ace fast bowler, who finished with expensive figures of 9-0-66-1.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green restricted Sri Lanka to 344/9 courtesy of a brilliant fightback. The Lankan lions were heading to a huge total, courtesy of Kusal Mendis' entertaining century, but failed to close things off with a fitting finish.
