Yuzvendra Chahal, the star spinner for Rajasthan Royals (RR), showcased his bowling prowess ahead of the impending IPL 2024 season by bagging a sensational four-wicket haul in the ongoing DY Patil T20 tournament. 

Once regarded as one of India's finest wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal's career trajectory has been tumultuous per se. After a series of failures, he was dropped from the national side. 

Despite encouraging show in the IPL 2023 season, Chahal struggled to break into the senior team. Eventually, due to prolonged absence, the leg spinner was dropped from the BCCI annual contract retention list released last month. 

Regardless, Yuzi Chahal is on a quest to rebuild his professional career from scratch. Ahead of a crucial IPL season, the wrist spinner participated in a local T20 tournament called the DY Patil Cup.

Representing the Income Tax team, Chahal dismantled the Canara Bank batting lineup with a phenomenal four-wicket haul. In his quota of four overs, the spinner bowled 10 dot balls and clipped four big dismissals whilst leaking a mere 22 runs in the record chase of 245 runs.

Chahal's impact was clinical in the Income Tax team's mammoth 135-run victory over Canara Bank.

That being said, ahead of an important IPL season, the wrist-spinner's return to form is an encouraging sign for Rajasthan Royals. Along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Chahal has been RR's wicket-taking option. The team relies on him to chip in crucial breakthroughs in times of crisis.

On a personal note, Yuzvendra Chahal is running out of time to salvage his international cricketing career. After getting dropped from the annual contracts, it's now more difficult for him to break into the T20 World Cup side.

Regardless, hope is everything. The DY Patil tournament positives are a stepping stone in the right direction for Yuzi as he navigates his way through this tough phase.
