Babar Azam doesn't believe in showcasing his emotions on the field, but on Friday, he celebrated like a "little kid", as Naseem Shah dismissed South Africa's David Bedingham for 30 runs in the first Test match.
South Africa started Day 2 on a promising note, with Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram scoring freely as the duo troubled the Pakistan pacers. However, Bavuma's wicket gave the visitors a ray of hope before Bedingham decided to play a little counter-attacking knock.
He looked solid for a 33-ball 30, but just when the Proteas batter was taking the game away from the opposition, Naseem bowled a brilliant out-swinger as the outside-edge was safely taken at first slip. The entire Pakistan side celebrated the wicket, but Babar Azam was overjoyed as he jumped like a little kid and for the first time in many years, showcased his emotions on the field.
He failed with the bat, but did his work on the field as he switched the bails a couple of overs ago and after which, Pakistan managed to dismiss Bavuma and Bedingham.
Babar Azam disappoints with the bat
Babar was making his comeback in the Test format and a lot was expected of the talented batter. However, the former Test skipper couldn't do much and was dismissed for just 4 runs on the board.
He fetched at a delivery outside the off and was knocked over for a low score on his Test return. Barring Kamran Ghulam, and a bit of Mohammad Rizwan, almost all the Pakistan batters surrendered in front of the Proteas as the visitors got bundled out for just 211.
Fast bowler, Dane Paterson was the pick of the bowlers as he ran riot and scalped 5 for 61 to put the Pakistan batters in immense trouble.
