Star Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz failed to capitalize his good start against India in the first T20I of their three-match series. Turning up for his side at Mohali’s INS Bindra Stadium, the cricketer bludgeoned a huge six over deep square leg off Axar Patel before he was stumped by the Indian spinner.

With his untimely dismissal, Gurbaz became Afghanistan’s first casualty of the innings, and it also triggered a semi top-order collapse considering they lost their top three wickets in the space of just seven runs.

After getting hit for a six, Axar Patel shortened his length and beat the inside edge off Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who had stepped out of his crease in a bid to give the ball another zap onto his leg side.

As it turned out, Gurbaz completely missed the length of the ball and was comfortably out stumped by Indian wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 23 off 28 balls and ended up sharing a 50-run partnership with opening partner Ibrahim Zadran.

His dismissal led to two more wickets in quick succession as Afghanistan slipped from 50-0 to 57-3 in the space of just 12 balls.

Apart from trapping Gurbaz with his orthodox left-arm spin, Axar Patel cleaned up Afghanistan’s number four Rahmat Shah, while Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube accounted for the wicket of visiting captain Ibrahim Zadran.
