[Watch] Axar Patel ‘Dismantles’ Rahmat Shah With A Sharp Delivery

Axar Patel had the opportunity to prosper for India on Thursday (January 11) during their first ODI of the three-match series against Afghanistan. Considering he is a contender to cut into place of his identical individual Ravindra Jadeja at the T20 World Cup 2024, Axar had a perfect chance to shine at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, where he used to play for Punjab Kings.

And Axar delivered, as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah became his victims in the first three overs of the day. While Gurbaz was stumped, the way Rahmat was bamboozled showed how clever Axar is.

Batting on 3 off 6 balls, Rahmat backed away to cut Axar while playing him during the 10th over. The left-arm spinner knew he would do that, and thus, a flat delivery that went a tad quick got the better of Rahmat. The ball got a thick inside edge before breaking the stumps.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan, who were invited to bat first by Rohit Sharma, are in control as of this writing. They have reached 96/3 after 14.2 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai going strong, batting on 26* off 17 balls.
